ComPart
The Community Participation Programme. Free skills training for young adults, over months rather than days.
What it is
ComPart takes young people who have already volunteered with us and trains them in a skill they can earn from. It meets fortnightly and runs across several months, not a weekend.
The first cohort came straight out of a medical outreach. The young people from Kunyami who worked the service units on 14 February 2026 became the group that started training that same month.
Who it is for
Free, and open to everyone in the community.
Young adults from the community, recruited from those who have volunteered with MedWHOLE before. Free, and open to everyone in the community.
The three streams

How it works
- 01Fortnightly meetings
- 02Every meeting opens with a thirty-minute teaching session
- 03Practical work in the chosen stream
- 04A graduation at which participants present what they have made
- 05Continued mentoring after the cohort ends
What the Public Health stream covered
Identifying and prioritising community health problems, simple data collection, planning and budgeting an intervention, delivering health education, and promoting handwashing, safe water, sanitation and food hygiene.
They then applied it. Operation Keep Kunyami Clean was a sanitation activity the stream planned and delivered themselves.

Results to date
Twelve people completed the pioneer cohort. At the graduation they presented designs, media projects and community advocacy frameworks — work they can show to a client, not certificates of attendance.

What comes next
The next phase expands into other Airport Road communities, with the training adapted to participants' reading levels and working hours — the clearest lesson from the first cohort.
